Babies are truly amazing. I have been saying that since Day 1 as we have watched Benji grow every day into his own unique little human being. He was a little "baby blob" those first few months and then someone waved a magic wand and now he's a PERSON! He responds to our voices and laughs at certain actions. He smiles when we sing his favorite songs or when we open a book that he recognizes. He squeals when he is reunited with Lucius, his favorite monkey that Grandpa Carl gave him when he was born. Every day, Benji makes us laugh because he is doing something ridiculous that we didn't teach him but he has somehow adopted as a behavior of choice. Most people who meet him agree that he is most like Kevin physically and we are starting to see that his personality is more like Kevin's as well. He is so easy-going and pleasant (unless he has missed a nap, which is just like mom). He already enjoys watching soccer. He prefers horseplay and tickles rather than sitting quietly to read a pile of books.....I have kissed our quiet mornings after breakfast goodbye! We compare him to Kevin but very soon I think we will have to stop because we will be forced to say "Gosh. Ben really behaves like.....Ben." And that's just perfect. What more can we ask for than a happy little guy who feels free to be himself?
The video included this time is a new phenom with Kevin that is sort of like peek-a-boo, but it is really "let's cover our faces with the burp cloth and kick our legs". Ben doesn't quite seem to understand that the game is about revealing your face and being surprised; he only enjoys the covering up of his face, so he's halfway there, I guess. And he loves the giggle time with his Papa. Thanks Ben, for making us laugh every day and for giving us a new peek at what you may be like when you are a big boy!
